With the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics just finished and hailed as being the best Olympics ever(well, they would say that wouldn’t they)I was extremely fortunate and honored to meet Team GB Bronze medal winner, Alan Campbell the other day. Alan is the first British sculler to win a medal in the single sculls for 88 years, so a totally amazing achievement..
Not only is Alan a great sculler but also a great and humble guy. And for those of you who are not sure, he’s the bigger chap in the photo below..(with the can of beer in his hand)
When Alan first joined tideway sculler rowing club in West London, his coach, Bill Barry, asked him what he wanted to achieve. When Alan replied, he wanted to row for England and win a medal, Bill could see he meant it, and so the training begun.
A massive congratulations to Alan and all the Athletes in the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics. I think most of us would agree, they were a great success.
